La Côte de Granit Rose

The coast is characterised by its variety of landscapes, from calm, wooded estuaries to craggy bays with their pink granite rocks weathered into weird and wonderful shapes. This splendid walking route is a discovery of Brittany’s northern coast, the Côte du Granit Rose, passing through bustling fishing ports and stone hamlets.

 

A glorious chaos of rocks, the "Granite rose" is at its most beautiful at sunset. Why not start your visit at Perros-Guirec by taking the "chemin des douaniers". If you would like to escape from the crowds of summer tourists, go inland. Many treasures are hidden there: Ploumanac'h  N-D. de la Clarté Chapel), Saint-Duzec (Christianized Menhir), île-Grande (covered alley)...Granite is an essential part of the "Armorican" subsoil) The blue rock from l'île-Grande serves as pavement for the boulevard Haussmann in Paris and covers many a New York Sky scraper.
